About Nakuru

Sitting smack in the middle of the Rift Valley in Kenya, Nakuru has rebounded into one of the most dynamic urban projects in East Africa, hatching out of a farming settlement that the colonialists initially put up. This dates back to the early 1900s when it became a strategic station of the Uganda Railway, attracting the settlers due to its rich volcanic soil and agreeable weather. With time, Nakuru became an administrative, commercial, and agricultural hub.

The town's name is inspired by the Maasai word "Nakuro", which means dusty place, concerning the semi-arid land. Nevertheless, Nakuru had become a significant farming sector producing dairy, wheat, and pyrethrum. The city's role has since increased after independence, and industrial parks, government offices, and prominent learning institutions have settled within the county.

However, in 2021, Nakuru was officially given city status, becoming Kenya's 4th city because of its economic growth, population explosion, and urbanization. This new classification has raised the real estate demand, making Nakuru a hot spot for residential or business investment.

There is also upscale housing in modern estates like Milimani, Section 58, and Kiamunyi, whereas areas like Pipeline and Lanet are preferred when buying affordable houses. The attraction of Nakuru, not only to the residents but also to investors, is influenced by its closeness to Lake Nakuru National Park, Menengai Crater, and geothermal energy sources.

As the infrastructure further improves with the expansion of roads, hospitals, and schools, Nakuru is all set to have sustainable urban growth. Nakuru is the place to be, whether you are a first-time buyer or property investor, because it has all the right mix of nature, convenience of getting around, and the like.
